You said, we did- community update from your South Northants team

Dear residents,

In July we set three local priorities for the South Northants area and surrounding villages including Deanshanger, Grange Park, Towcester, Silverstone, and Brackley. These were road safety and road traffic offences, drug dealing and drug misuse, and rural crime. These priorities were based on concerns raised by local residents, together with local crime data and information provided by partner agencies, such as the local council.

These priorities have been the focus of much of our work over the past three months. Below is an update on some of the activity undertaken by the South Northants Neighbourhood Policing Team to address them:

Road safety and road traffic offences:

A number of speed enforcement operations have taken place across Stoke Bruerne, Harpole, Nether Heyford, Whittlebury, Shutlanger, and Towcester, which have resulted in speeding tickets being issued as well as safety advice given to drivers spoken to.

In addition to these operations, there has also been positive action taken by officers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act due to anti-social or careless behaviour witnessed by officers involving vehicles.

Parking issues and general road safety issues have been focused on as well in areas surrounding schools, as well as road safety talks by officers.

Drug dealing and misuse

Over the last six months, our officers have been actively involved with a number of lengthy investigations focusing on the disruption of drug use and supply.

As part of this, there has been a regular focus on both high visibility proactive patrols, as well as intelligence led warrants and disruption, resulting in a significant amount of drugs being seized, intelligence gathered and offenders brought to justice.

Rural crime

Our force wide Rural Crime Team (RCT) has seen some fantastic results across the county and continue to focus their attention on our most rural communities, including those across the South Northants area.

This focus will continue going forward and our local officers are always on the lookout for opportunities to combine their skills, knowledge, and local expertise to work in conjunction with the RCT.
